There' no denying that social media has had a tremendous impact on our culture, in business, and on the world-at-large.
Social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter, are some of the most popular haunts on the Internet. They have revolutionized the way people communicate and socialize on the Web by allowing you to find and connect with just about anyone.
Browsing these sites can make you feel connected to a larger community, but such easy, casual connection in an electronic environment can also have its downside.
Here are six reasons why you shouldn’t check social media before bed:
1. You're hurting yourself without knowing it
If you like someone and you don’t know if he or she likes you back, this is really just breaking your heart. Checking social media is all about comfort. We like to know what everyone is doing instead of feeling disconnected. Maybe we feel relieved when we don’t see anything upsetting on the page we are currently creeping on.
2. It’s pointless
It really is pointless to constantly check your significant other’s Facebook or Twitter before bed. It will make life easier if you build trust not based on social media, but rather, on each other.
3. Your brain will explode
There’s something about just lying alone that makes you want to think about your family, friends, what you’re craving, your crush, and every task you need to get done before the year is over. The last thing you need is to think about someone else who is most likely not losing sleep over you.
4. Sadness, anger and anxiousness
Seeing pictures of you're best friend or lover having fun without you will eventually makes you sad.
5. You will feel self-conscious
Looking at social media and wishing to be “that girl” will just drain your positive thoughts about yourself. Even if you see a picture of your friends without you in it, it can hurt. The last thing you need is to go to bed with negative thoughts.
6. You will start to worry
If someone doesn’t reply to a message, then you will think something is wrong.
